Monument Tools Brexit Statement January 2021
Since the withdrawal from the EU was declared by the UK government, Monument Tools Ltd have been reviewing the implications and applying strategic plans to minimise potential impact on our ability to supply product to our customers.
We are working to ensure that despite the uncertainty of the post-Brexit environment we will still be able to offer a robust service & ensure continuity during 2021.
Product Availability
The majority of the product that we distribute in the UK is manufactured in the UK or imported from outside of the EU eg China, India, Taiwan and USA. We are therefore not expecting any impact upon our supply chain. Product can be routed through any one of a number of UK ports. We will continue to monitor the situation and direct our imports to make the quickest journey time from the supplier. To reach the UK market the vast majority of products do not need to travel under or across the English Channel.
We are intending to keep delivering product to our customers in Northern Ireland, Ireland, the rest of Europe and the Rest of the World in the same timely manner as we always have done.
Tariffs
Most products imported by Monument Tools are already subject to tariff charges. We have published a 2021 price list and do not expect changes to pricing based on Brexit.
Customs Documentation & EORI
Monument will continue to try and ensure that its paperwork for customs declarations is up to date to allow for a smooth passage through customs. To that end the following EORI numbers are live for Monument Tools GB217810281000 and for Northern Ireland XI217810281000. Our latest Terms and Conditions of Sale can be found here.
Product Regulations
We are working with our US suppliers to comply with the CE marking regulations enabling product to move freely into Northern Ireland, Ireland and rest of the EU. In addition to this, we will work to ensure that the new UK quality mark can be applied to all electromechanical products by the end of 2021. This will allow us to continue to supply our full range of electromechanical products to our existing UK and EU customers.
2021 and beyond
We will continue to watch for new developments during 2021. We are familiar with the demands of international trade and we are confident in the ability and expertise of our business to cope with any changes necessitated following the agreement of new rules between the UK and the EU following Brexit.
