TRV Tail Driver
The TRV Tail Driver was designed by Heating Engineer Tom Meredith and enables fast removal and installation of 1/2in. BSP tails for thermostatic radiator valves TRV. Monument Tools has continually developed the tool and the product now has different variations which are designed to fit most brands and sizes of TRV.
The Design Process
Tom first approached Monument with the idea of the TRV Tail Driver which would be driven by a power tool. The first design worked well but Monument soon realised that the square drive of the design did not fit some of the other brands of 1/2in. BSP radiator tails. Additional design work was undertaken and a change to the CNC program changed the internal profile of the TRV Tail Driver from fitting external male square drives to fitting external male square drives and hexagonal drives.
Monument Grip+
Monument has also further developed the TRV Tail Driver to be included within the Monument Grip+ range of tools. The Grip+ range is centred around the Monument Professional Adjustable Basin Wrench 345V – developed and patented in 1950s this product has the smallest head of basin wrenches on the market giving it access to really tight spaces. The patented and unique fitting of the basin wrench jaws has been used engage with Grip+ tools – giving longer reach for many jobs. Watch the video to see the Grip+ TRV Tail Driver v16-180308.
Rad Tail Putter Inner
The product has gained popularity on social media; as well as being called a TRV Tail Driver is also called a Rad Tail Putter Inner. Product Availability
The TRV Tail Driver is available as part of the Grip+ basin wrench kit in Screwfix. Also available as a product with the 10mm drive for power tools product code 2166M from one of Merchandised Solutions toolbars in hundreds of independent plumbing and builders merchants. in Monument and Instinct brands and also as a Monument branded tool in part of the Grip+ range product code 4507X.
Invented by a Heating Engineer
Monument has for decades tried to design, manufacture and develop new products which other manufacturers do not have. This is either done by internal design or with inventors and trades.
